Role overview
Sudbury Catholic District School Board is looking to add a part-time Cleaner at St. Francis School. This is a permanent position scheduled for 10 hours per week, with working hours from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
The Board operates in Northeastern Ontario and supports about 6,900 students across 17 schools in Greater Sudbury and Killarney. It serves a diverse school community and values staff who help create a positive learning environment.
What the role involves
Working under the guidance of the Operations Assistant or another designated supervisor, the Cleaner will carry out a range of custodial tasks to maintain clean, safe, and healthy school facilities.
Education, knowledge, and experience
A high school diploma or an equivalent credential is required. Applicants should have working knowledge of custodial methods and procedures, along with familiarity with cleaning and grounds equipment. At least 1 year of institutional cleaning experience, or something comparable, is preferred.
Skills and abilities
Successful candidates should be comfortable using basic computer tools such as email, communicate clearly in English, follow detailed instructions, and maintain a strong eye for detail. The role also calls for initiative, the ability to work independently with limited supervision, and the capacity to function well in a team with a clear customer service mindset. Professional, tactful, and diplomatic communication is expected at all times, along with consistent attendance.
Physical demands
The position involves regular walking, reaching, and bending or stooping while cleaning surfaces, as well as frequent pushing, pulling, and gripping when using equipment and tools. The job requires lifting up to 25 lbs regularly and, in rare situations, up to 75 lbs.
Pay and benefits
The hourly wage for this Cleaner role is $22.18, and the position comes with a comprehensive benefits package.
Employment conditions
If an offer is made, the successful candidate must provide an acceptable Police Record Vulnerable Sector Check and proof of completion of the Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps training before starting work. The training is available online.
