Role Overview
Waymo’s People team supports hiring, employee growth, and workplace culture through HR business partners, program administrators, staffers, and compensation specialists. In this hybrid position, you will partner with one of the People Business Partners and help maintain a supportive, thoughtful, and high-performing environment across the organization.
What You’ll Do
- Pinpoint the underlying causes of recurring people issues and create scalable programs or tailored solutions that resolve them long term, rather than addressing only individual cases.
- Support the launch and adoption of major People initiatives such as ACED Performance Reviews and Compensation Planning, making sure the process is consistent, precise, and well-executed for your function.
- Guide managers through difficult conversations, performance management challenges, and team development discussions with confidence and judgment.
- Act as a senior HR contact for key manager groups, serving as the main escalation point for sensitive matters and complex relationship issues.
- Bring forward insights from employee sentiment and workplace culture to senior leaders and People Business Partners so they can shape broader strategy.
What You Bring
- At least 5 years of experience in HR, People Operations, or a business partnering role.
- Hands-on experience advising managers on difficult people matters, including performance management and employee relations.
- Strong execution skills with experience running complex cycles such as performance and compensation processes with close attention to detail.
- An analytical approach to reading survey results and sentiment trends to spot patterns, risks, and opportunities.
- The ability to quickly earn trust with managers and employees at every level of the organization.
Preferred Experience
- Background in a fast-growing technology company.
- Coaching or mediation certification.
Compensation and Benefits
The expected base pay for this full-time role in the US is between $159,000 and $196,000 annually. Actual starting compensation will depend on factors such as the exact work location, relevant experience, training, education, and skill level. If the role can be performed remotely, a recruiter can provide the salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
In addition to base pay, eligible employees may participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and company benefits package, subject to eligibility requirements.

This is a hybrid role based in Mountain View, CA.
