Overview

Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu, New Zealand's largest correspondence school serving up to 24,000 students, seeks a committed People and Capability Administrator based in Wellington. This permanent full-time role (40 hours per week) begins in August or September 2026 at the Wellington office.

Te Kura offers personalized distance education programmes from early childhood through to NCEA Level 3 and adult learners. Their mission is focused on supporting learners to attain their educational and personal aspirations and to engage actively in their communities anytime, anywhere.

Key Duties

  • Managing accurate entry and upkeep of People and Capability data across various platforms.
  • Maintaining payroll and personnel files with confidentiality and precision.
  • Ensuring payroll documentation and reports comply with legislative and internal standards.
  • Supporting payroll reconciliations and audit readiness.
  • Enhancing payroll and people management systems and workflows continuously.
  • Building effective relationships with management and staff by delivering dependable customer service and advice.
  • Providing administrative support to the People and Capability team.

Candidate Profile

  • Exceptional organizational and administrative competencies focused on detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet frequent deadlines.
  • Strong skills in data entry and maintaining precise records.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication for collaboration across stakeholders.
  • A proactive, positive attitude to work.
  • Experience in administrative roles, preferably related to HR or payroll.
  • Confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and familiarity with HR/payroll systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary ranges from $62,947 to $76,433, dependent on individual qualifications, skills, and experience.
