Role overview

Ferrero is hiring a Payroll Specialist for its Augusta, GA and Florence, KY operations. This role focuses on processing payroll for hourly and salaried employees, keeping payroll records accurate, generating reports, and responding to payroll-related questions in partnership with Human Resources. Key responsibilities

  • Run accurate, on-time payroll for a multi-state employee population of more than 700 people, while working to strict and time-sensitive deadlines in a busy environment.
  • Keep timekeeping records complete and make sure data moves correctly from the timekeeping platform into the payroll system.
  • Gather, reconcile, and validate submissions for supplemental pay, time adjustments, and rate changes from several locations, ensuring all compliance requirements are met and the payroll system reflects the correct outcomes.
  • Check payroll reports against timekeeping and department/base submission reports, confirm balances, and identify any discrepancies that need correction.
  • Handle unemployment claims with the help of an outside vendor.
  • Assist with internal and external audits that relate to compensation items.
  • Contribute to payroll-related projects, process improvements, and other tasks as needed.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant has an associate degree and prior experience in a similar position, or at least 3 years of directly relevant experience. Strong organization, communication, and attention to detail are important, along with solid math ability, Excel proficiency, and troubleshooting skills. Experience with a large payroll platform is useful, and familiarity with UKG, Kronos, or SAP is considered an advantage. The role also calls for someone who can manage competing priorities, perform under deadline pressure, adapt when circumstances change, and protect sensitive/confidential information.
