About the Role

We are partnering with a prestigious international intellectual property law firm looking to employ a seasoned Patent Paralegal at their London office with hybrid working options. This prominent role involves supporting a well-respected patents team that serves a diverse global client base managing a wide-ranging portfolio of European, UK, and international patent matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft and submit patent applications to the European Patent Office (EPO), UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO), and via the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) system.
  • Assist in handling prosecution activities including convention and non-convention filings, national and regional phase entries, divisional applications, and UK Designs.
  • Oversee a demanding patent docket to effectively track and comply with all critical deadlines.
  • Generate reports on patent portfolios, provide updates to clients, and prepare relevant prosecution documentation.
  • Review and process both inbound and outbound communications from EPO, UKIPO, and PCT authorities.
  • Support processes such as portfolio transfers, conduct data audits, and estimate prosecution costs.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys and clients to ensure timely and efficient case management.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior colleagues, aiding with their training, integration, and participation in broader firm initiatives.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrable experience in a Patent Paralegal role, preferably within private practice or specialized intellectual property settings.
  • In-depth understanding of filing and prosecution procedures at EPO, UKIPO, and under the PCT framework.
  • Proven capability to manage complex patent portfolios alongside critical scheduling demands.
  • Exceptional organizational skills paired with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable liaising with clients, attorneys, and international partners.
  • Adept at working autonomously and collaboratively within teams.
