About the Role

Under the guidance of the Director of Global Undergraduate Academic Advising, the Academic Advisor position provides personalized academic guidance to undergraduate students enrolled in Northeastern University's pathway programs across its global campuses. The role involves assisting students in identifying their academic interests, strengths, and goals while coordinating with advisors from the degree programs' home colleges on the Boston campus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive academic advising to undergraduate pathway students, collaborating with advising units on Boston and other campuses using best practices in student support.
  • Identify and assist at-risk students through an early alert system and refer them to appropriate campus resources.
  • Offer guidance in course scheduling, registration, adding/dropping classes, withdrawals, and major declarations.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and student academic records while monitoring progress.
  • Teach multiple sections of the Introduction to College course and work with Boston campus advisors to develop new instructional materials and teaching strategies.
  • Track student attendance and performance, submitting progress reports as necessary.
  • Engage in recruitment activities by providing advising support to prospective students and participating in orientation.
  • Serve as a liaison to campus offices such as the Registrar, Office of Global Services, and WeCare, and participate in relevant committee meetings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work, or related field preferred.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant professional experience working with diverse student groups.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Good understanding of educational requirements and advising processes.
  • Proficient with various technology tools and software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively within teams.

Additional Information

The position falls under Academic Administration and offers a base salary of $72,320.11.
