Role overview
This permanent full-time position is based at East Midlands Airport and sits within a fast-moving aviation ground handling environment. The job is carried out on a rotating night shift, with a 4-on/4-off pattern from 19:00 to 07:00. The work varies from day to day and requires you to deliver high standards while working to strict timelines.
Compensation and contract
Annual salary: £29,018.23. Grade: P. Contract type: Permanent, full time.
Key duties
- Clean cargo aircraft thoroughly and maintain a consistently high standard of cleanliness.
- Work efficiently in order to meet tight turnaround deadlines.
- Follow all airport security procedures and comply with site requirements at East Midlands Airport.
- Use equipment safely and only in line with the training provided.
- Carry out all work in a safe, orderly and tidy manner.
- Clean the pilot lounge, including replenishing drinks, coffee-machine supplies and food items.
- Prepare crew beds, clean bedrooms, and manage linen collection and delivery.
- Assemble aircraft bedding packs.
- Clean the engineering hangar, including operating a ride-on scrubber.
- Handle catering requests and pack catering items as required.
What we are looking for
You should take pride in the quality of your work, feel comfortable working at pace, and be able to respond quickly and accurately when situations change. Prior cleaning experience or airport experience would be an advantage. Strong communication skills at all levels are also important.
Security and vetting requirements
This role is airside and therefore requires security vetting, including a criminal record check, before a successful candidate can start. To complete the aviation security process, you must be able to provide at least 3 years of UK address history, 5 years of reference history covering employment, education, benefit claims or character references, and hold a full UK driving licence. You will also need to obtain a full airside ID.
