Role overview

This position is part of SpartanNash, a food solutions company within the C&S Wholesale Grocers family. The business operates as a distributor, wholesaler, and retailer with a broad supply chain network across all 50 states, serving a wide range of customers and operating grocery stores, pharmacies, and fuel centers.

As a Night Stock Associate in South Bend, Indiana, you will work on your own initiative to stock and present merchandise in a way that supports store performance, guest satisfaction, and compliance with safety and food-safety standards.

Primary duties

  • Support the receipt, unloading, and back-room stacking of incoming merchandise.
  • Refill shelves, cases, and displays accurately and keep products rotated and presented properly on the sales floor.
  • Alert management when stock or supplies need replenishment.
  • Build working knowledge of store products and their locations.
  • Manage damaged or spoiled items according to company procedures.
  • Keep departments orderly, clean, attractive, and well stocked.
  • Follow PPE rules, safety practices, food safety standards, cleaning expectations, and guest experience guidelines.
  • Take on work in other departments when customer experience needs require it.
  • Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Required qualifications

Applicants should be able to read, write, understand, and interpret documents, use basic math, and maintain strong attention to detail. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and retail or similar experience is also preferred.

Physical demands and work conditions

This job can require frequent lifting and moving of up to 30 pounds, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Team members must be able to stand and walk for long periods and may need to bend, stoop, twist, and turn often. Work is performed in a typical retail setting with changing temperatures and may include exposure to outdoor weather. Noise levels are usually low to moderate. Travel needs depend on assignment.
