Role overview
Higgins Bay of Plenty has won a new long-term Integrated Delivery Contract with NZTA for the region and is seeking a Network Inspector to join the team in Ōpōtiki.
The contract is centred on delivering safe, dependable, and sustainable maintenance, renewal, and safety improvement work across the network stretching from Waihi and Tauranga to Rotorua and Ōpōtiki.
As part of this position, you will inspect network assets, evaluate how they are performing and whether they meet compliance requirements, record defects, track maintenance work, and use your findings to guide maintenance and renewal planning.
Key duties
- Inspect sections of the network and record observations in a clear, accurate manner.
- Spot defects, hazards, and any areas falling short of the required service standard.
- Collect dependable information to assist with maintenance scheduling and treatment choices.
- Look into issues and support analysis of underlying causes.
- Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and other stakeholders during inspections and site walkovers.
What you will bring
- Field-based confidence and the ability to work effectively with data.
- Background in civil construction, roading, or infrastructure settings.
- Practical knowledge of pavement or surfacing performance.
- Excellent attention to detail and a consistent approach to accurate record keeping.
- Comfort using simple digital tools, including tablets and reporting platforms.
- Strong communication skills for working with colleagues, clients, and members of the public.
- Good time management, prioritisation, and sound judgement when making decisions on site.
- A full Class 1 driver licence.
