This role demands solid technical expertise, commercial insight, and effective collaboration with various departments and suppliers to craft thorough and competitive bids.

Key Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly examine tender documents, blueprints, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) to ascertain project needs and scope.
  • Calculate accurate quantities and develop cost estimates for MEP systems.
  • Solicit and assess quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to secure optimal pricing.
  • Collaborate with design, procurement, and commercial teams for comprehensive tender documentation.
  • Identify and propose value engineering solutions while adhering to specifications and client expectations.
  • Draft technical and commercial clarifications during the tender phase.
  • Evaluate project risks, exclusions, and underlying assumptions, integrating these into estimates.
  • Assist with post-tender cost negotiations and provide relevant analysis as required.
  • Keep updated records of cost data, supplier rates, and historical project information.
  • Ensure timely completion of estimates that meet quality standards within tender deadlines.

Candidate Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field is mandatory.
  • Between 3 to 8 years of hands-on experience in MEP estimation within construction or fit-out sectors.
  • Comprehensive understanding of MEP systems, construction practices, and prevailing local market pricing.
  • Demonstrated capability in quantity take-offs, costing, and preparing tender packages.
  • Knowledge of Saudi Arabia's building codes, project specs, and industry regulatory standards.
  • Strong analytical prowess combined with commercial acumen and skilled negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, and dedicated estimation software; familiarity with Revit or other quantity take-off tools will be considered an asset.
