About SmithRx

SmithRx is a fast-scaling, venture-backed health-tech company focused on improving the costly and inefficient pharmacy benefits management space. The company is building a modern drug acquisition platform powered by advanced technology, cost-saving tools, and strong customer service. Since 2016, it has onboarded hundreds of thousands of members and serves clients nationwide.

The culture is mission-led and highly collaborative, with employees working toward a shared goal of helping transform the U.S. healthcare system. SmithRx emphasizes three core values: integrity, courage, and togetherness.

Role Overview

This role serves as the main owner of member data for the MCSS team. The person in this position is responsible for making sure every member list is accurate, complete, and reliable before it is used for letters, emails, and text messages. The Marketing Operations Manager manages the delivery systems, while this role manages the data that enters those systems.

Because member communications involve regulated information and Protected Health Information (PHI), data accuracy is a legal and compliance requirement. The role reports to the Member Comms Team Lead and works closely with the centralized Data team on Snowflake models, enterprise standards, and upstream data changes. Strong performance in this role may create opportunities to broaden into larger marketing analytics work over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pull, combine, and prepare member data from several internal systems, including eligibility, pharmacy, and client records, for use in email, SMS, and print communications.
  • Work primarily in Snowflake and query data models maintained by the Data Engineering and Analytics teams.
  • Set and apply data quality standards before lists are sent into the communication pipeline.
  • Create and maintain automated checks that detect duplicates, missing values, invalid formats, and eligibility issues before any message goes out.
  • Manage PHI carefully and maintain suppression logic so opted-out, ineligible, or otherwise excluded members are consistently removed from all applicable lists.
  • Partner with the Marketing Operations Manager to ensure each list follows the correct schema, mapping, and formatting rules for the communication platform.
  • Collaborate with the centralized Data team on shared models, evolving standards, and upstream system changes that affect member communications.
  • Document data sources, transformation steps, field definitions, and business rules in a way that supports audit readiness and compliance.
  • Investigate, surface, and help resolve data issues by working with the Member Comms Team Lead and other internal data owners.
  • Handle ad hoc data requests for compliance reporting, campaign sizing, performance analysis, and regulatory questions.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of practical experience in data analytics, data operations, or a related field.
  • Direct experience handling Protected Health Information (PHI) and working knowledge of HIPAA requirements as they apply to data work.
  • Advanced SQL skills in Snowflake, including complex querying, multi-source joins, and data transformation.
  • Experience building validation logic, reconciling data across systems, and maintaining high standards of data integrity.
  • Understanding of suppression lists, opt-out handling, preference management, eligibility logic, and regulated data processes.
  • Prior exposure to shared data environments such as dbt models or working alongside Data Engineering and Analytics teams is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain data issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Healthcare or PBM industry background is strongly preferred.
  • A careful, security-focused mindset when handling member records and sensitive information.

Benefits

  • Competitive wellness coverage, including medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, life insurance, and AD&D insurance.
  • Flexible spending benefits.
  • 401(k) retirement savings program.
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage.
  • Discretionary paid time off.
  • Paid company holidays.
  • Wellness benefits.
  • Commuter benefits.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Employee assistance program (EAP).
  • Access to a well-stocked kitchen in office locations.
  • Professional development and training support.

Additional Information

This is a compliance-heavy role that requires careful handling of member information. The work supports regulated communications and must consistently account for opt-outs, exclusions, and other PHI-related rules. High performers may be able to expand into broader marketing analytics responsibilities in the future.
