Job description

Opportunity

PwC Canada is looking for a Managing Director to lead its PMO and Project Management function. This role centers on large-scale transformation work across IT, compliance, and people-change initiatives, and requires strong consulting leadership, delivery expertise, and commercial capability.

The practice supports clients undertaking major transformations, typically in the range of $100 million to $5 billion. Services include transformation strategy, risk management, program management, and related support. The work combines people, process, and technology to help clients move from strategy through to execution.

What you will do

  • Take ownership of delivery across multiple consulting engagements, including project economics, quality, timing, budgets, and alignment with internal and client standards.
  • Set up PMO structures and lead delivery for large programs, including regular progress reporting to C-suite stakeholders.
  • Guide engagement teams to produce high-quality outputs that are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Lead pursuit efforts and proposal development, bringing forward tailored methods and approaches for client transformation needs.
  • Develop new business by building relationships and using existing industry connections to identify major transformation opportunities.
  • Work across the firm to connect clients with the full strength of PwC’s PMO and Project Management capabilities.
  • Spot market gaps and shape value propositions for large transformation programs.
  • Support clients in building business cases and justifications for transformational initiatives.
  • Stay current on important industry changes in Canada and globally.
  • Understand how client strategy affects day-to-day operations.
  • Develop the team through practical coaching, mentoring, and hands-on training.
  • Create new consultant tools, assets, and accelerators that improve service delivery.
  • Encourage inclusive collaboration and the appreciation of different perspectives in diverse teams.
  • Communicate complex ideas clearly in both written and spoken form for varied audiences.

What you bring

  • Proven leadership in PMO and project management for major transformation portfolios with budgets above $100M.
  • Practical experience in planning, managing, or delivering major business, compliance, and IT transformation programs.
  • Strong client credibility built on subject-matter expertise in transformation delivery and associated risks.
  • Ability to manage strategic client relationships while maintaining excellent delivery across several projects.
  • A strong record of supporting sales activity, including business development, proposals, and closing consulting work, ideally with an established professional network.
  • Experience producing meaningful business results through strategic thinking, initiative, and team motivation.
  • Substantial management consulting background with knowledge of strategy, operations, technology, and automation/AI-enabled efficiency improvements.
  • Evidence of thought leadership in transformation, such as published work, speaking engagements, or recognized expertise.
  • Interest in digital upskilling, new technology trends, AI’s impact, and improved operating models.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build collaborative teams, coach effectively, and provide clear, constructive feedback.
  • Well-developed organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • A clear commitment to inclusion, team development, and ensuring diverse viewpoints are heard.
  • An MBA or CA, along with Program Management certification or an equivalent credential, is considered an asset.
