Job description
About TAFE Queensland
TAFE Queensland is the largest vocational education and training provider in the state and has supported Queensland communities for more than 140 years. The organisation places customers at the centre of its work and is committed to strengthening its reputation through high-quality education and training delivered in line with its core values.
Your Opportunity
An experienced and motivated leader is sought to manage the Vocational Placement Coordination team. In this role, you will oversee the coordination of student placements, build connections between learners and industry, and help ensure all placements are safe, compliant, and aligned with course requirements.
The role reports to the Manager, Student Management and is a full-time, temporary fixed-term position until 31 December 2028, unless otherwise determined. Work will be primarily based at the Southport and Ashmore campuses, though other TAFE Queensland locations may also be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the daily work of an administrative team and make sure operational needs are delivered effectively.
- Track team workloads, organise priorities, and provide supervision so work flows efficiently.
- Reassess priorities as business demands change and adjust the team’s activities accordingly.
- Prepare, interpret, and clearly share reporting information with the supervisor and team to support performance goals.
- Identify training needs, communicate development requirements, and arrange support to improve processes and outcomes.
- Work with the supervisor to improve team performance and maintain a positive, collaborative culture.
- Independently pursue research, learning, and professional development to strengthen administrative functions and service delivery.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure administrative activities are planned, implemented on time, measurable, and compliant with TAFE Queensland policies and procedures.
- Promote an ethical, safe workplace and support zero harm, health, safety, wellbeing, and sustainability practices.
How You Will Be Assessed
- Ability to review administrative systems, processes, and performance measures, then improve and implement more efficient client-focused operations.
- Proven capability to lead, support, and coordinate administrative staff in a responsive and service-oriented environment.
- Strong digital capability, including experience using a range of modern software tools and information systems for administrative coordination.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills with experience building productive relationships with staff, external clients, and management.
- Initiative, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well in a demanding, changing, service-driven team environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
No mandatory qualification is required for this position. However, experience in Vocational Placement Coordination and a strong understanding of VET placement requirements, related challenges, and the importance of achieving positive outcomes would be highly regarded.
Application Requirements
Applicants are asked to submit their application through the recruitment portal and include a detailed resume, a cover letter addressing the assessment criteria in no more than two pages, and the contact details of two referees, including one current supervisor.
