Role overview
This position is responsible for steering employee and industrial relations support, while also shaping organisational development, culture change, workforce planning, capability building, and leadership development across Forensic Science Queensland (FSQ). The role works closely with senior leaders to strengthen a workplace that is high-performing, inclusive, values-led, and focused on continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
- Offer guidance on employee relations, industrial relations, workforce planning, and people management matters.
- Work alongside the FSQ leadership team to advise on and help resolve complex people and employment issues.
- Explain and apply relevant legislation, awards, agreements, policies, and other employment-related documents.
- Liaise with industrial organisations on organisational change and employment-related matters.
- Manage cases involving workplace ill-health, investigations, disciplinary matters, unsatisfactory performance, and employee grievances.
- Strengthen organisational and leadership capability across the agency, including delivering corporate training.
- Plan, design, and deliver strategic HR initiatives and projects that improve organisational effectiveness and workplace culture.
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including those across the broader sector.
- Prepare detailed briefing papers, correspondence, submissions, and reports on employee and industrial relations issues for FSQ.
- Supervise and support a small HR team while contributing to FSQ leadership.
- Drive change management and help shape decision-making to support innovative business practices.
