Job description

About the organisation

QLeave is a statutory authority responsible for administering portable long service leave schemes for workers in the building and construction, contract cleaning, and community services sectors. Managing more than $2 billion in funds, the organisation focuses on sound governance, accountability, and delivering a high standard of service to Queensland workers.

About the role

QLeave is looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join its team in Brisbane’s North. In this position, you will analyse business systems and information technology needs, work closely with stakeholders, and help identify opportunities to improve service delivery and drive positive change.

Key responsibilities

  • Work with stakeholders to gather, assess, record, and validate business processes and data requirements for new system builds, enhancements to existing systems, and business process improvement initiatives.
  • Carry out investigative analysis to understand and document business workflows and ICT needs, and recommend practical improvements to processes and information systems.
  • Review system designs and other development outputs to ensure they align with requirements, and take part in relevant quality assurance activities.
  • Prepare functional requirements in user-story format covering functionality, usability, access and security, performance and availability, interfaces, and data migration/conversion needs across business functions.

What the role calls for

  • Provide guidance to senior leaders on solutions and data for complex business challenges involving digital technologies.
  • Bring strong experience in business analysis and technical analysis delivery.
  • Show capability in analysing business needs in depth and recommending process and system solutions that support strategic goals.
  • Use advanced stakeholder engagement skills, including process mapping, gap analysis, and root-cause investigation.
  • Demonstrate strength in requirements elicitation, workshop facilitation, and presentations within a multi-vendor or hybrid ICT environment.
  • Build trusted working relationships with business stakeholders through high-quality consultation, facilitation, and collaboration.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal form across business and technical audiences at all levels.
  • Apply business analysis and business intelligence tools to support data-led improvement, and use business process modelling notation to document workflows.

Qualifications and preferred experience

There are no mandatory qualifications for this position. However, the following certifications, capabilities, and experience will be viewed favourably:

  • BPM certification such as the AIIM BPM Certificate or a qualification from BPMInstitute.org.
  • ABPMP Certified Business Process Professional (CBPP®).
  • Business analysis certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, BCS BA Certification, PMI-PBA, or similar.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience using Microsoft Dynamics or related technologies within the Microsoft ecosystem.

How to apply

To be considered, submit a detailed resume that outlines your qualifications, relevant experience, and achievements, along with a concise 1 to 2 page cover letter. Your letter should explain your motivation for the role and provide examples that show how you meet the position’s requirements. It should add more than a simple summary of your resume and does not need to address every attribute individually.

Additional information

Applicants will be assessed on experience, growth potential, and personal qualities, with selection based on the person best suited to the role. QLeave encourages diversity and is committed to equal opportunity employment.
