Job description
Role overview
This position sits within Qatar Airways’ Product Development and Design function, focused on improving inflight products and passenger comfort through innovation. The role is centered on managing the supply, storage, and movement of catering inventory so that operational teams always have the required equipment, dry stores, bonded items, and beverages available when needed.
You will lead the approach for forecasting, budgeting, logistics, and inventory governance across the global network. A key part of the role is to reduce unnecessary movement of stock, improve storage decisions, and help lower costs and stock levels while maintaining service reliability.
Key responsibilities
- Own the strategy for catering equipment, bonded stock, beverages, holding levels, and distribution across more than 800 inventory items in the network.
- Guide trade-off decisions that balance supply risk against cost efficiency.
- Review and shape logistics arrangements so stock is not transported unnecessarily, supporting a more fuel-conscious and cost-effective model.
- Design and manage warehousing plans, including oversight of an outsourced equipment warehouse and support for a future in-house warehouse option.
- Work closely with teams across the organization to secure alignment on supply decisions and time-sensitive trade-offs.
- Plan the introduction of new items and ensure outdated stock is removed and disposed of in a timely way.
- Partner with Product Development & Design and Catering Services on product specifications, trials, and feedback to support purchasing and rollout decisions.
- Carry out other duties assigned by the Head of Department that are relevant to the role.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate will bring a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification, along with at least 5 years of relevant experience in logistics, equipment, and supplier management in a global setting. Experience in forecasting, reporting, planning, and program or project management is also required.
Strong numerical ability is valuable, particularly in mathematical and statistical analysis. Proficiency with Excel, Power BI, ERP platforms, and stock control systems is preferred. The role also calls for excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and spoken English, presentation ability, and comfort working in a multicultural environment. Previous people leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching, training, and team development, is important.
