Role summary

The Localization Lead will own localization production, delivery, and quality for the Hindi market. The role ensures all localization work is completed on schedule, stays within budget, and matches the needs of the local audience. It is also responsible for making sure the platform and communication channels feel culturally appropriate, on-brand, and tailored to the market.

In addition, the position supervises language quality across all localization streams and works closely with the central Quality Team. The lead will track quality trends, improve language output, and raise broader issues when needed. They will also manage product testing for the market through third-party vendors.

This role serves as the local face of localization, building strong ties with internal and external stakeholders. It also contributes local insight to broader localization planning and looks for ways to improve the customer journey for the Hindi market.

Key responsibilities

  • Make sure localization deliverables for the Hindi market are completed on time.
  • Review localized content quality, give feedback to quality vendors, handle translation-related issues, lead arbitration where needed, and escalate repeated problems to the central quality team.
  • Oversee localization product testing for the market.
  • Maintain localization assets such as style guides, glossaries, and translation memories.
  • Evaluate and onboard new vendors when required.
  • Build productive working relationships with vendor linguists.
  • Support urgent marketing translation requests.
  • Advise on specialized localization services such as transcreation, voice-over, and post-editing.
  • Share local market input to support central localization strategy.
  • Identify opportunities in the customer journey to improve local relevance for international users.
  • Represent localization in the market and develop relationships with important stakeholders.
  • Provide cultural, linguistic, and market guidance to the business.
  • Support research, experimentation, and A/B testing activities.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar localization position in an online environment.
  • Native-level Hindi ability and fluent English.
  • Strong background in translation, localization, and language quality management.
  • Experience managing linguists and/or multiple language service providers.
  • Solid understanding of end-to-end localization workflows.
  • Working knowledge of localization tools and technologies, including CAT tools, TMS platforms, machine translation, and post-editing.
  • Good understanding of internationalization, including product testing and bug reporting.
  • Experience in creative writing, media, or online marketing is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at different levels of the business and leadership.
  • Capability to manage global vendor relationships and maintain high service quality.
  • Hindi proficiency is required to oversee quality standards and support Hindi-market localization initiatives.
