Job description

Purpose of Job

This role involves operating with minimal supervision, adhering to established guidelines and procedures to produce specialized reports. The jobholder will contribute to Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority's (ZATCA) litigation strategy by analyzing historical case data. Key responsibilities include assessing complex legal cases and achieving operational targets within the assigned functional area.

Job Responsibilities

  • Receive and prioritize litigation cases from the objections team for analysis.
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis of laws, regulations, and policies pertinent to each case.
  • Collect, sort, and coordinate legal affairs cases with various sectors and divisions to understand all requirements and implications.
  • Gather necessary documentation and arrange meetings with relevant entities to identify infringements and prepare appropriate legal responses.
  • Draft legal documents such as statements of claim, counterstatements, and warning letters to protect ZATCA's legal rights and reputation.
  • Undertake studies to mitigate recurring infringements and propose preventive actions.
  • Perform legal research using diverse resources to analyze legal information effectively.
  • Review legal materials and documents to identify and prioritize critical issues.
  • Assist in representing ZATCA before judicial bodies, committees, and governmental authorities, ensuring all supporting documents are available.
  • Prepare settlement proposals for negotiations with employees and external parties involved in lawsuits against ZATCA (excluding audit and collection-related settlements).
  • Maintain an archive of all judgments won by ZATCA for future reference.
  • Identify and engage external legal experts for specialized advice on non-customs litigation cases.
  • Train junior staff on job-related activities to facilitate knowledge transfer.
  • Provide clear direction, prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and monitor the workflow of junior staff.
  • Support junior staff in executing their duties in accordance with established policies and processes.

Additional Information

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Law Studies or an equivalent qualification is required.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience is necessary.
