This opportunity is offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of renewal based on business demands. The position is part of the Iron Ore & Battery Metals division, reporting directly to the Section Manager and working within a focused team of traders and trade operations professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead physical lithium trading activities across the worldwide supply chain, managing sourcing and contract execution processes.
- Formulate and implement trading strategies for both physical and derivatives markets, including managing hedging and proprietary positions.
- Oversee the complete transaction lifecycle, from negotiation through execution, documentation, and settlement.
- Establish and maintain robust relationships with producers, consumers, fellow traders, and other counterparties.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of global lithium market fundamentals—covering supply and demand dynamics, pricing trends, policies, and macroeconomic factors—to identify lucrative trading opportunities.
- Explore and develop new business avenues along the lithium value chain, including emerging markets for battery materials.
- Compile comprehensive trading and market outlook reports for senior leadership.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- Brings over ten years of professional trading expertise, preferably with hands-on experience in physical lithium trading or other battery metals.
- Knowledgeable about derivatives and futures trading markets, as well as commodity trading platforms.
- Exceptional negotiation abilities, contract management skills, and effective communication and interpersonal capabilities.
- Thorough understanding of logistics and shipment processes related to physical commodities.
- Must be eligible to work in Singapore without requiring visa sponsorship due to internal work pass limitations.
