About the role

This position is for a Licensed Aircraft Engineer (B2) within Light Maintenance and Technical Engineering in Doha. The role focuses on carrying out aircraft maintenance work that supports flight operations, including scheduled checks and other duties that fall within the engineer’s authorization. The incumbent is expected to apply specialist technical knowledge to help maintain safe, reliable, and efficient aircraft operations.

Operational responsibilities

  • Organize allocated tasks in a practical and time-efficient way, and operate the relevant equipment and tooling in line with company and customer procedures.
  • Assess existing work methods and standards, and suggest improvements where the current process is not suitable so that work remains effective.
  • Take responsibility for the final release of completed work and ensure tasks meet company and customer expectations, including dispatch reliability and an acceptable level of deferred defects.
  • Make sure aircraft maintenance activities are completed according to the applicable policies and procedures, while maintaining the required product standards.
  • Provide dependable assistance to both internal teams and external customers.
  • Apply solutions to technical issues within the limits of the role, while keeping aircraft and component serviceability at the level required to support schedules.

Leadership and team management

  • Oversee mechanics and technical assistants to make sure assigned work is carried out efficiently, follows procedures, and achieves the intended outcomes.
  • Guide technicians and aircraft mechanics and provide on-the-job training where needed.
  • Set team objectives and priorities that support wider business goals.
  • Review the team’s objectives, plans, and procedures regularly, and update them when necessary.
  • Ensure staff under direct supervision follow technical and safety requirements set out in manuals, customer procedures, and related publications.
  • Assign priorities to the team to ensure resources are used effectively and planned work is completed on schedule.
  • When supervising others, ensure workmanship remains at the required standard and that the correct tools are used for the task.

Qualifications and experience

  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification, along with at least 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • A diploma in aircraft maintenance, a trade or vocational aircraft maintenance qualification, or a degree such as B.Eng. or BSc, or an equivalent qualification in aircraft engineering.
  • Must hold at least one full Qatar Airways main fleet ICAO/QCAA rating.
  • For internal applicants, at least 1 year of relevant aircraft certifying experience as EN.01 is required.
