Job description
Role Overview
This position is focused on driving both external and internal sales efforts to support the company’s revenue and growth plans. The role works closely with the Head of C&I Business Development and is centered on building client relationships, moving opportunities through the pipeline, and closing commercial deals in the renewable energy space.
Core Responsibilities
- Coordinate sales initiatives with organizational growth and revenue priorities in partnership with the Head of C&I Business Development.
- Engage prospective clients through meetings, on-site visits, and field interactions to improve conversion rates and build lasting partnerships.
- Own the complete deal cycle, including client acquisition, proposal delivery, commercial discussions, and contract closure.
- Partner with technical and financial modelling teams to create tailored proposals and attractive commercial terms based on client needs.
- Track sales performance, maintain the pipeline, and share reliable revenue forecasts with senior leadership.
- Work alongside Key Account Managers to develop strong connections with key stakeholders in industrial and corporate accounts.
- Provide manager - BD with timely support, including studies, documentation, market insights, regulatory risk inputs, and commercial analysis required for proposal preparation.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong background in business development within corporate power purchase agreement (PPA) models, including captive and open access arrangements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and deal-closing ability.
- Good knowledge of project economics, regulatory considerations, and customer ROI analysis.
- Ability to work independently, stay goal-focused, and close large-value transactions.
- Leadership and team coordination capabilities with a strong orientation toward delivery.
- Willingness to travel frequently for client meetings, site evaluations, and business development work.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field is required; an MBA is preferred. The role calls for 7 to 9 years of relevant sales experience in the renewable energy sector, along with a proven history of closing multi-megawatt renewable energy projects.
Additional Information
This is an onsite full-time role based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The position involves extensive travel for client engagement and business development activities.
