Role overview
Mackay Regional Council is looking for an experienced Labourer to join its Civil Operations team working out of the Paget Depot in Mackay, Queensland. The role supports the upkeep and building of roads, drainage assets, and other civil infrastructure across the region.
What you will do
You will perform labouring duties and assist with plant and truck operations related to road and drainage maintenance and construction. The work is carried out under the remote direction of a supervisor or leading hand.
Essential qualifications and experience
- A current Queensland General Construction Safety White Card is required.
- You must hold a valid Queensland open manual Class C driver’s licence.
- Ability to operate small ride-on equipment and light mechanical plant, backed by the relevant civil construction machinery competency certificates, is needed.
- Prior exposure to roadworks, drainage works, and broader civil infrastructure projects will be strongly valued, especially experience in earthworks, concrete work, pipelaying, bitumen application, and vegetation control.
- Training can be provided to a suitable applicant who shows the right attitude and potential.
