The Histology Laboratory at Eurofins MC Pathology in Sandyford, Dublin, offers comprehensive laboratory services ranging from tissue receipt to specialized diagnostic reporting by expert consultant histologists.
We are searching for a meticulous Laboratory Aide to join our histology team on a fixed-term basis for two years, with the option for extension depending on business needs. This role suits an organized professional eager to enhance their skills within a laboratory and medical environment. Structured training and development support will be provided for career growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing sample registration, labeling, and preparation for clinical testing processes.
- Utilizing Laboratory Information Management Systems efficiently to document and track specimens.
- Complying rigorously with departmental documentation such as SOPs, training records, and forms.
- Contributing to daily departmental tasks and ensuring timely delivery of patient results by maintaining work files.
- Handling accessioning duties and clerical aspects of gross pathological processing.
- Promptly processing and preparing samples while maintaining all related reagents.
- Monitoring and managing inventory of reagents and consumables.
- Maintaining logbooks and overseeing sample storage both before and after analysis.
- Ensuring proper treatment, disposal, and management of all laboratory waste.
- Reporting any equipment malfunctions encountered during work duties.
- Performing routine maintenance and cleaning of lab instruments and workspaces.
- Adhering strictly to Good Laboratory Practice standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of Leaving Certificate or equivalent; having a science-related diploma is favorable.
- Prior experience of approximately one year in a similar laboratory role is beneficial but not compulsory, as training will be provided.
- Strong administrative skills and keen attention to detail.
- Proactive and willing to take initiative to resolve issues thoroughly.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
Working Conditions and Benefits
The position requires a commitment to 39 hours weekly from Monday to Friday.
