About the Role
St. Regis Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Junior Sous Chef to join our culinary team in Doha, Qatar. This is a full-time, onsite position where you will contribute to delivering exquisite dining experiences. You will be responsible for preparing a variety of dishes, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met, and assisting in the overall kitchen operations. Responsibilities
- Prepare specialized meals and substitute food items as needed.
- Precisely regulate the temperature of cooking equipment such as ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters.
- Manage the thawing process for frozen food items by transferring them to refrigeration.
- Ensure accurate food portioning, attractive arrangement, and proper garnishing of dishes.
- Maintain comprehensive logs for food preparation and quality control.
- Monitor and ensure the quality and quantity of all prepared food items.
- Communicate effectively to request assistance during peak service periods.
- Inform the Head Chef about excess food inventory that can be utilized for daily specials.
- Notify Food & Beverage service staff about daily menu specials and any out-of-stock items.
- Uphold the highest standards for the quality of food items.
- Prepare and cook food in accordance with established recipes, quality benchmarks, presentation guidelines, and preparation checklists.
- Prepare cold food preparations.
- Support management in hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, counseling, disciplinary actions, motivation, and coaching of staff, acting as a positive role model.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety and security policies and procedures.
- Report any maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, or unsafe working conditions to management.
- Complete all required safety training and certifications.
- Maintain a clean and professional personal appearance and uniform.
- Safeguard confidential and proprietary information.
- Protect company assets at all times.
- Anticipate and proactively address guest service needs.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and guests.
- Cultivate and maintain positive working relationships with team members.
- Support team efforts to achieve collective goals.
- Listen to and respond appropriately to concerns raised by other employees.
- Ensure adherence to all quality expectations and standards.
- Perform duties while standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping motions.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Undertake other reasonable job duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
- A technical, trade, or vocational school degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant culinary experience is required.
- No prior supervisory experience is necessary for this role.
- No specific licenses or certifications are mandated.
