About The Role
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. is seeking a dedicated Room Service Captain to join their team in Singapore. This full-time, onsite position is responsible for ensuring seamless room service operations and exceptional guest experiences. You will play a key role in leading the room service staff, maintaining service standards, and contributing to the overall success of the food and beverage department. Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate the daily operations of the room service department, ensuring efficient service delivery.
- Lead and motivate the room service team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Inspect staff grooming and attire, addressing any issues to maintain professional standards.
- Execute opening and closing procedures, including setting up necessary supplies, cleaning equipment, and securing the premises.
- Manage inventory, conduct stock checks, and requisition supplies as needed, adhering to FIFO principles.
- Monitor dining areas to ensure optimal seating availability, service quality, and guest safety.
- Address and resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring satisfaction.
- Assist management with staff hiring, training, scheduling, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
- Serve as a role model and a point of contact for employee relations, upholding the Guarantee of Fair Treatment/Open Door Policy.
- Ensure strict adherence to all company policies, safety, and security procedures, reporting any incidents or unsafe conditions.
- Maintain a professional appearance and uphold company confidentiality and asset protection.
- Welcome and acknowledge guests according to established standards, anticipating and fulfilling their needs.
- Assist individuals with disabilities and express genuine appreciation to all guests.
- Communicate effectively using clear and professional language, both verbally and in writing.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, supporting team goals and addressing concerns appropriately.
- Identify opportunities for improving organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and cost-savings.
- Perform physical tasks including standing, sitting, walking for extended periods, and moving objects up to 50 pounds.
- Utilize fine motor skills for object manipulation and navigate various environments, including stairs and confined spaces.
- Read and visually verify information in various formats, including small print.
- Visually inspect tools and equipment for defects.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a similar role is necessary.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience is essential.
- Proficiency in leading and motivating a team.
- Strong understanding of food and beverage service standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
