Job description
Role overview
An established civil engineering contractor is looking for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its commercial team. This position is suited to a fresh graduate or someone with up to 12 months of relevant experience who wants to build a career in quantity surveying while working on major infrastructure schemes.
The role combines office and site exposure and will support projects across Dublin, Meath, and Kildare, including a flagship assignment at Dublin Airport. You will work alongside experienced commercial professionals and gain practical involvement across the full quantity surveying lifecycle on civil engineering and infrastructure works.
Key responsibilities
- Help prepare cost reports, valuations, and other commercial project documents.
- Assist with the administration and control of subcontractor accounts.
- Support the review and processing of subcontractor payment applications.
- Track project expenditure and flag potential commercial risks and opportunities.
- Contribute to the preparation, negotiation, and settlement of variations and final accounts.
- Keep commercial records and project files accurate and up to date.
- Work with site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients as required.
- Support monthly forecasting and cost reporting activities.
- Assist with procurement tasks and subcontract package preparation.
- Follow commercial procedures and contractual obligations throughout the project.
Requirements
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or another relevant construction-related subject.
- About one year of experience in a quantity surveying position is preferred, though suitable placement experience from college will also be taken into account.
- Exposure to civil engineering projects is an advantage.
- Candidates with broader construction experience may also be considered.
- Strong capability with numbers, analysis, and commercial thinking.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Confident use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Ability to work on your own initiative as well as collaboratively.
- A full driving licence is required.
