Job description

Role overview

An established civil engineering contractor is looking for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to strengthen its commercial team. This position is suited to a fresh graduate or someone with up to 12 months of relevant experience who wants to build a career in quantity surveying while working on major infrastructure schemes.

The role combines office and site exposure and will support projects across Dublin, Meath, and Kildare, including a flagship assignment at Dublin Airport. You will work alongside experienced commercial professionals and gain practical involvement across the full quantity surveying lifecycle on civil engineering and infrastructure works.

Key responsibilities

  • Help prepare cost reports, valuations, and other commercial project documents.
  • Assist with the administration and control of subcontractor accounts.
  • Support the review and processing of subcontractor payment applications.
  • Track project expenditure and flag potential commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Contribute to the preparation, negotiation, and settlement of variations and final accounts.
  • Keep commercial records and project files accurate and up to date.
  • Work with site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients as required.
  • Support monthly forecasting and cost reporting activities.
  • Assist with procurement tasks and subcontract package preparation.
  • Follow commercial procedures and contractual obligations throughout the project.

Requirements

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or another relevant construction-related subject.
  • About one year of experience in a quantity surveying position is preferred, though suitable placement experience from college will also be taken into account.
  • Exposure to civil engineering projects is an advantage.
  • Candidates with broader construction experience may also be considered.
  • Strong capability with numbers, analysis, and commercial thinking.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative as well as collaboratively.
  • A full driving licence is required.

What is offered

  • Salary in the range of €40,000 to €45,000, depending on experience.
  • A company vehicle will be provided.
  • Opportunity to join a respected civil engineering contractor.
  • Hands-on exposure to large and varied infrastructure projects, including work connected to Dublin Airport.

Application note

Interested candidates who are graduate quantity surveyors or recent graduates with a civil engineering and infrastructure focus can discuss the role confidentially by contacting Amy Maguire or sending a CV. The recruiter states that CVs are never forwarded to clients without permission.
