Job Description
The journalist is tasked with gathering information that holds public interest and delivering this content to audiences across various platforms including television and the web.
Responsibilities
- Collect information through observation, investigations, and interviews.
- Authenticate the accuracy of obtained data.
- Write articles conveying the gathered information.
- Organize and review news bulletins and information segments.
- Edit and produce their own reports.
- Participate in, or host, public affairs programs.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Assist in setting the broadcast order for news and information capsules when workload permits.
Qualifications and Professional Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma or undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
- Strong spoken and written French communication skills with appropriate vocabulary.
- Valid driver's license.
- Knowledge of journalism principles and techniques; alternatively, at least three years of relevant experience.
- Recognition of professional qualifications outside academic education is required (certificates, permits, courses, or memberships in professional organizations).
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written French.
- 1 to 2 years of professional experience preferred, with relevant experience considered.
- Punctuality and consistent attendance.
- Ability to build and maintain interpersonal relationships.
- Good judgment and decisiveness.
Salary and Additional Information
Compensation will adhere to the salary scales outlined in the ongoing collective agreement for the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region.
