Job Description

The journalist is tasked with gathering information that holds public interest and delivering this content to audiences across various platforms including television and the web.

Responsibilities

• Collect information through observation, investigations, and interviews.
• Authenticate the accuracy of obtained data.
• Write articles conveying the gathered information.
• Organize and review news bulletins and information segments.
• Edit and produce their own reports.
• Participate in, or host, public affairs programs.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
• Assist in setting the broadcast order for news and information capsules when workload permits.

Qualifications and Professional Requirements

• Post-secondary diploma or undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
• Strong spoken and written French communication skills with appropriate vocabulary.
• Valid driver's license.
• Knowledge of journalism principles and techniques; alternatively, at least three years of relevant experience.
• Recognition of professional qualifications outside academic education is required (certificates, permits, courses, or memberships in professional organizations).
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written French.
• 1 to 2 years of professional experience preferred, with relevant experience considered.
• Punctuality and consistent attendance.
• Ability to build and maintain interpersonal relationships.
• Good judgment and decisiveness.

Salary and Additional Information

Compensation will adhere to the salary scales outlined in the ongoing collective agreement for the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region.
