Job description

Role overview

A private equity firm based in the United Kingdom is hiring an Investment Associate for its London office. The business backs founder-led and entrepreneurial companies across a variety of sectors and has a strong history of working closely with management teams to drive growth, improve operations, and shape strategy.

As the firm continues to see a healthy flow of new opportunities alongside an active portfolio, this position will partner with senior investment professionals throughout the full investment process. The role offers wide-ranging exposure to sourcing opportunities, executing transactions, and managing portfolio assets within a generalist investment remit, with regular contact with company leaders, advisers, and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Evaluate and help progress new investment opportunities by carrying out financial analysis, valuation work, and commercial assessment.
  • Create and maintain detailed financial models to assess returns, capital structure options, and downside cases.
  • Draft investment committee materials, approval documents, and presentation decks.
  • Carry out research on markets, industries, and companies to support screening, thematic analysis, and deal origination.
  • Help coordinate commercial, financial, legal, and operational due diligence on live transactions.
  • Support transaction structuring, negotiation, and completion alongside management teams and external advisers.
  • Track portfolio company performance, review operating and financial results, and contribute to value creation work.
  • Assist portfolio management teams with strategic initiatives, acquisitions, financing activity, and business planning.
  • Contribute where needed to fundraising, investor communications, and wider firm projects.

Candidate profile

The ideal applicant will bring 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in private equity, investment banking, corporate finance, or a similar analytical setting. Strong capabilities in financial modelling, valuation, and accounting are expected, along with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.

You should also have sound commercial judgement and the ability to assess businesses operating in different sectors. Clear written and verbal communication is important, especially when presenting complex ideas in a concise and structured way. The role suits someone who is highly organised, attentive to detail, and comfortable managing several priorities in a fast-moving environment. A genuine interest in private equity and in helping businesses grow over the long term is also important.

Why this opportunity is compelling

This role provides broad exposure across the complete investment lifecycle within a private equity environment that works in a hands-on, collaborative way with portfolio companies. Early engagement with management teams and advisers means the associate will have meaningful input into both deal execution and value creation, rather than a narrowly defined remit.

Because the mandate is generalist and focused on founder-led businesses, the work spans a diverse set of sectors and business models. That makes the position a strong platform for building well-rounded private equity experience.

Application notes

Applicants with the right background are encouraged to submit their details directly. Because of the level and specificity of the position, applications should clearly demonstrate experience in financial modelling, transaction execution, and commercial analysis.

About the employer

The hiring firm is a UK-based private equity investor focused on founder-led and entrepreneurial businesses. It partners with management teams to support growth, operational improvement, and strategic development.
