Role overview

This is a remote contract journalism role based in Canada. The position calls for a weekly commitment of 10 to 40 hours and focuses on producing original, well-researched reporting.

What you will do

  • Identify, research, and develop original news pieces, feature stories, and long-form articles.
  • Carry out interviews, collect direct insights, and confirm information through reliable and authoritative sources.
  • Write precise, engaging, and factually sound content for different reader groups.
  • Review and refine articles for readability, consistency, and editorial quality.
  • Work alongside editors, designers, and fellow journalists to improve the final output.
  • Keep track of breaking news, trends, and subject areas related to your assigned beat.

What we're looking for

  • Hands-on journalism experience with a strong collection of published work.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills, along with a strong eye for detail.
  • Comfort with interviewing people and distilling complex information into clear reporting.
  • Ability to work on your own and deliver within tight deadlines in a remote environment.
  • Strong curiosity, initiative, and analytical thinking.
  • Good working knowledge of media law, journalistic ethics, and standard reporting practices.
