Job description

Role overview

Crane ChemPharma & Energy is hiring an experienced Human Resources Manager to serve as a strategic partner to the business and help build a workplace where people, performance, and culture advance together. In this role, you will be part of the leadership team supporting operations in Birkenfeld, Germany and Arad, Romania, and you will report to the VP of HR. The position is focused on attracting, developing, and keeping a strong, diverse workforce while improving employee relations and supporting business results.

What you will do

  • Act as a core partner to the leadership and site teams for all HR matters, sharing ownership of the company’s strategic objectives and profitability targets.
  • Assess employee-relations and work-related concerns, then work with leaders to find practical solutions such as training, clearer communication, or disciplinary measures when needed. Maintain regular contact with the Works Council to support alignment and a healthy work environment for all employees.
  • Guide the HR and Payroll teams so that processes are completed on time, accurately, and in compliance with applicable requirements, while using HR data and metrics to support business decisions.
  • Own and improve the hiring process by sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates to build a strong shortlist and secure high-quality hires. Keep the required records and supporting documentation for hiring decisions.
  • Lead talent and succession planning efforts to strengthen capability, support retention, and improve organizational performance. This also includes running campus recruitment initiatives to identify and develop future leaders.
  • Work with business leaders to create workforce plans that match the company’s strategy and operating goals.
  • Promote a continuous-improvement mindset across the organization and within HR by using lean tools and the broader business system.
  • Oversee performance review processes to ensure they are consistent, fair, timely, and used effectively by coaching leaders. Also ensure merit increases are handled fairly and equitably.
  • Support the development of company policy and encourage managers to take ownership of policy administration.
  • Supervise the review, upkeep, and communication of records required by law, local authorities, or internal departments, and keep track of key deadlines such as probation periods, fixed-term contract end dates, and reporting timelines.
  • Join meetings with managers, supervisors, and work groups to improve communication and identify issues affecting morale and productivity.
  • Make sure every employee has access to career development opportunities and understands available growth paths.
  • Oversee workers’ compensation and unemployment benefit administration.
  • Ensure benefits information is properly administered in line with Crane Co. initiatives.

What we are looking for

  • A preferred educational background of M.Sc. in Human Resource Management, M.A. in Personnel Management/HRM, or a comparable Business Administration qualification. Additional training in labor law, related education, or professional certifications would be an advantage.
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in human resources, especially in a generalist capacity.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading HR teams in a dynamic and diverse setting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with the capability to identify business risks and create effective mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent influencing, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, plus the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Strong written and spoken German, along with very good written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for up to 25% of the time.
  • Experience with Workday is preferred.
