Job description

Role overview

Ford’s UEV initiative began as a small, agile “Skunkworks” effort focused on creating highly affordable electric vehicles with advanced efficiency and digital capability. The platform is built around an ultra-efficient powertrain, a fully zonal electrical architecture, in-house software control, ADAS support for multiple vehicle types and battery chemistries, and a lightweight unicastings-based design that enables a more streamlined assembly process. The program also serves as a test bed for modernizing Ford’s global development ecosystem, including advanced CAD tools and physics-based cost modeling.

As a Global Supply Manager, you will play a central role in turning Ford’s EV vision into reality by shaping the supply chain strategy that supports speed, precision, and execution for an affordable, world-class EV program.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing strategy for key spend categories across the UEV platform and subsequent advanced EV programs, from strategy creation through SOP, covering supplier selection, contracting, and performance management for cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Work closely with engineering teams from early concept through launch to align sourcing plans with technical direction, design-freeze milestones, and transitions from prototype to production while protecting program timing and cost position.
  • Develop first-principles should-cost models with cross-functional partners to build a physics-based view of part and system costs, set negotiation targets, review supplier quotes, and challenge pricing at a detailed line-item level.
  • Perform make-versus-buy analyses to determine the most effective supply chain structure and maximize value.
  • Strengthen supply chain resilience by identifying, qualifying, and expanding Tier 1 and Tier 2 partners across regions, while building dual-source and regional capacity plans that account for material shortages, geopolitical exposure, and changing global trade and tariff conditions.
  • Advance automation opportunities across the supply chain by working with suppliers to identify process automation and robotics improvements.
  • Influence the tools and processes used by the ADVEV supply chain, including should-cost methods, supplier and agreement management systems, and AI-enabled analytics that improve how suppliers, parts, and contracts are evaluated.

Team values and working style

  • Stay curious by asking questions, testing alternatives, and challenging assumptions.
  • Use first-principles thinking rather than relying on legacy ways of working.
  • Base decisions on evidence and data.
  • Be willing to make difficult prioritization calls in the interest of the program.
  • Take full ownership of decisions and outcomes.
  • Partner with product development to exceed cost and quality expectations.
  • Build deep knowledge of part cost, design, and manufacturability.
  • Continuously improve across the entire part lifecycle.
  • Own the supply chain end to end, from source through service.
  • Support teammates and contribute to a strong shared mission.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or Operations Management.
  • At least 5 years of experience in supply chain management or commodity management.
  • Proven ability to negotiate creatively and develop unconventional sourcing strategies.
  • Strong relationship management capability with both internal teams and external partners.

Preferred qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline, or an MBA.
  • Practical experience building and launching highly effective supply chains.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working cross-functionally in a fast-moving, high-performance environment.
  • A systems-oriented mindset with curiosity for exceptional execution and continuous improvement.
  • Interest in expanding into new commodity areas as the ADVEV portfolio grows.

Benefits and perks

  • Immediate medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage.
  • Flexible family care days, paid parental leave, new parent ramp-up programs, subsidized backup child care, and related support.
  • Family-building support such as adoption and surrogacy reimbursement and fertility treatment assistance.
  • Employee and family vehicle discount program, plus management leases.
  • Tuition assistance.
  • Active employee resource groups.
  • Paid time for individual and team community service.
  • A generous holiday schedule, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
  • Paid time off, with the option to purchase additional vacation time.

Compensation and work arrangement

This is a leadership level 6 position with a salary range of $127,100 to $239,900 per year. Final pay will depend on skills, experience, job scope, responsibility, and competitive market value.

The role is based in Long Beach, California. It is a hybrid position, and candidates within commuting distance of a Ford hub may be required to work onsite four or more days each week.

Eligibility and additional information

Visa sponsorship is available for this role. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and employment eligibility will be verified at the time of hire.
