Role overview
An established professional services organization in Toronto is hiring a Human Resource Business Partner to support people strategy and employee experience across the Americas. In this role, you will serve as a trusted HR advisor, combining operational follow-through with data-driven guidance on human capital matters.
The position is based in Toronto, Canada and offers a salary range of $125,000 to $140,000.
Key responsibilities
- Act as a go-to HR partner and subject matter resource for stakeholders across the Americas on all human capital-related topics.
- Provide regular reporting and data-backed insights on workforce issues to support leadership decisions.
- Support the People Director and broader People team on international initiatives and projects.
- Manage and coordinate employee relations matters, including discipline, leaves of absence, and workplace conflict.
- Work with Legal and People Operations to maintain compliance with legal and administrative obligations.
- Conduct exit interviews and convert feedback into retention-focused action items.
- Support mid-year and year-end performance review cycles through administration of the appraisal process.
- Track appraisal follow-up, identify performance concerns early, and escalate relevant issues to the People Director and key stakeholders.
- Coach managers and leaders on giving constructive feedback consistently and building a strong feedback culture.
- Facilitate talent review conversations, including succession planning for key positions.
- Help run the annual bonus allocation process by ensuring all participants understand the workflow, decision makers, and decision points.
- Coordinate with the Benefits team to ensure employee benefits are delivered according to employment contracts and contract changes.
- Partner with the local office to support compliance with employment law and Health & Safety requirements, and recommend corrective actions where needed.
- Support immigration-related matters by working with People Operations and external immigration counsel.
- Collaborate with third-party agencies, internal talent acquisition, and business leaders to support hiring and candidate selection.
- Provide leaders with the right level of information to make sound internal recruitment decisions.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of relevant experience, ideally in a professional services environment.
- Working knowledge of HR policies and practices across the United States; experience in Latin America and Canada is an added advantage.
- Strong employee relations background and solid understanding of basic employment law.
- Project management experience across end-to-end initiatives is beneficial.
- Proven stakeholder management skills, including experience working with senior leaders.
- Ability to work in a consultative manner and influence change at all levels of the organization.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
