Job description

About the role

Amazon is focused on being the world’s most customer-centric organization and an employer where people can do their best work. This role is part of that mission by supporting managers and improving the day-to-day employee experience through sound HR guidance, practical tools, and innovative programs.

The HR Partner serves as a trusted advisor to business leaders, bringing strong knowledge of HR policies, local practices, and employee relations. The position works closely with HR Business Partners and HR Specialists across different businesses to align approaches, share effective practices, and strengthen consistency across the organization.

This role supports World Wide Amazon Stores and General & Administrative (WWAS G&A) corporate managers located in the United States.

Employee relations and support

  • Route routine transactional questions to the MyHR Live Support Tier 1/Tier 2 team and handle non-standard manager inquiries directly.
  • Take ownership of employee relations case management, including discipline, performance improvement, and exit-related processes.
  • Advise managers on people issues that require strong knowledge of policies, procedures, and local labor laws.
  • Partner with the legal team and the ER point of contact on employee relations matters and carry out investigations when needed.

Performance management

  • Support managers throughout the full performance management cycle, including coaching them on concerns, guiding them through the process, and helping finalize separation agreements.
  • Review data and organizational observations to identify patterns and recommend actions or solutions where appropriate.

Talent management and people development

  • Advise managers on compensation planning, including off-cycle and exception requests, using Amazon’s compensation philosophy as a guide.
  • Coach and train managers through talent management activities, including building tools and communications that help them operate more independently during talent reviews.
  • Help managers and employees identify learning opportunities that build functional and leadership capability.
  • Support career discussions, development plans, and broader growth initiatives for employees.

HR operations and programs

  • Champion the employee experience and help reinforce Amazon’s culture.
  • Serve as the point of contact and program owner for people tools, HR processes, programs, or projects, including implementation and review.
  • Lead cross-functional work that improves the employee experience and strengthens manager capability.

What success looks like

The HR Partner is expected to be an influential advisor to managers on talent, employee development, and employee relations. With access to people data and a broad view across teams, this role helps identify trends, uncover emerging needs, and create practical solutions through programs, tools, and process improvements.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Human Resources Management, Labor Relations, Business/Management, Psychology, or a closely related discipline, along with at least 3 years of HR experience or 5+ years of human resources experience.

Preferred experience includes a master’s degree in business, HR, or a related area; comfort solving ambiguous or undefined problems; the ability to influence stakeholders and make business recommendations; experience in matrixed organizations; and a strong background in leading large projects from planning through execution. Experience mentoring or coaching others and balancing multiple priorities in a fast-moving, deadline-driven environment is also valuable. Intellectual curiosity and the ability to bring useful insight to the business are important as well.

Benefits
