Job description
Role overview
Airbus is looking for an HR Digital Specialist to support the Asia Pacific region and help accelerate the digital evolution of Human Resources. This position sits at the intersection of HR, AI, data engineering, and change enablement, with a focus on building smarter, more automated ways to manage and use HR data.
In this role, you will act as both a digital transformation lead and an AI change enabler. You will help plan and roll out intelligent solutions that improve HR decision-making, automate manual work, and strengthen the HR technology landscape across the region.
What you will do
- Investigate, recommend, and implement AI agents, chatbots, digital assistants, and machine learning models that streamline workflows across tools, teams, and business functions.
- Work with HR stakeholders and data analysts to understand business needs and convert them into technical solution requirements.
- Perform exploratory analysis on data to uncover patterns, trends, and insights that support AI model development.
- Track, review, audit, and refine AI models after launch to keep them accurate and effective.
- Keep pace with developments in AI, machine learning, and data engineering so the team can continue improving its capabilities.
- Design, develop, source, and support middleware and data pipelines that connect systems such as Workday and local payroll platforms, ingest data from APIs, databases, and flat files, and reconcile mismatches where possible.
- Improve data architecture and database design to increase scalability and performance.
- Partner with IT and data specialists as the technical point of contact for HR to ensure smooth system integration and a reliable data foundation.
- Review internal and external use cases and adapt proven architectural patterns for APAC whenever suitable.
- Follow data governance and security standards to safeguard sensitive HR information.
- Engage with AI governance teams across HIMalaya and regional HR Digital & AI roadmap leaders to align on strategic direction.
- Define where AI can operate independently and where human approval must remain in place to support better data-driven decisions.
- Ensure compliance with Responsible AI practices, GDPR, the EU AI Act, and Digital Gate requirements under the AI governance framework.
- Provide technical guidance and training to HR team members.
- Make sure the HR team completes the required Capability Gates before any tool is released.
- Support the local HRIS environment by analysing process requirements, redesigning workflows, and recommending suitable digital and AI-based improvements.
- Identify and implement enhancements in HR software to make HR operations more efficient.
- Help test and roll out new technology platforms while ensuring compatibility with existing systems.
- Maintain accurate and dependable data across all HR technology platforms.
- Monitor HR technology trends and suggest strategic improvements.
- Drive HR process digitisation to improve efficiency and user experience.
- Manage relationships with vendors supplying HR technology solutions.
- Create and maintain clear documentation for HR technology systems and solutions.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline, or an equivalent mix of relevant education and industry experience.
- AI/ML certification such as Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer, or data engineering certification such as Google Certified Professional Data Engineer, is an advantage.
- At least 6 years of professional experience in HR AI/ML or data engineering, backed by a strong portfolio of deployed models.
- Hands-on experience with cloud environments such as Google Cloud Platform or AWS, including AI/ML tools and data engineering services like Vertex AI, AutoML, AI Infrastructure, S3, Data Factory, and BigQuery.
- Ability to independently architect and deliver end-to-end AI/ML solutions and AI agents that produce measurable business outcomes.
- Strong Python programming ability, with practical use of TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
- Experience with data engineering ecosystems and tools such as Spark, Airflow, and Databricks.
- Comfort explaining complex technical ideas to audiences without technical backgrounds.
- Experience with ETL workflows and tools including PySpark, Scala, and Git.
- Understanding of data governance practices and how they apply in enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of data privacy, security protocols, and safe data exchange practices, especially for HR data.
- Good project management and organisational skills.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams.
- A proactive, curious, and technology-driven mindset with a genuine interest in innovation.
