Role overview

Network Runners, Inc., an IT consulting firm, is hiring a Human Resources Administrative Assistant for a full-time remote role. The position is based in Sterling, Virginia. The company is seeking someone upbeat, dependable, team-oriented, and willing to learn and grow. The right candidate should be able to juggle several tasks at once while staying organized and efficient.

What this role is designed to do

This position supports core HR operations, including candidate screening and interviews, payroll preparation, onboarding new hires, and administration of employee benefits.

Key duties

  • Assist with hiring activities by screening applicants, conducting interviews and tests, sharing internal openings with current employees, keeping personnel files current, and coordinating temporary staffing through agencies when needed.
  • Process employee pay by calculating wages, issuing checks, and preserving accurate payroll records.
  • Handle administration of medical insurance and disability programs by explaining eligibility, sharing application details, assisting with forms, checking submissions, and informing employees when approvals are received.
  • Track unemployment claims by reviewing notices, organizing supporting documents, and sending materials for legal review when required.
  • Maintain HR records by logging new hires, transfers, terminations, job classification changes, merit increases, and leave balances such as vacation, sick, and personal time.
  • Support onboarding by preparing welcome materials, reviewing company policies, collecting tax withholding and payroll details, and explaining benefit forms before obtaining signatures.
  • Complete HR paperwork, reports, logs, and other documentation accurately and on time.
  • Continue building job knowledge by taking part in learning opportunities and staying current with professional reading.
  • Contribute to the HR team and wider organization by handling related tasks and supporting business needs as assigned.
