Housekeeping Team Leader

Overview

Every guest room narrates the story of our hotel, showcasing the care invested in every stay. As a Housekeeping Team Leader, you will set the standard by leading through example during every shift. Your responsibilities include inspecting finished rooms, offering hands-on coaching, and supporting daily operations to maintain high-quality, efficient, and outstanding guest experiences. You will ensure that the housekeeping team stays organized, motivated, and focused for making every room ready for guests and coordinating smooth shift operations.

Guest Experience Responsibilities

• Conduct self-inspections of assigned guest rooms, suites, and public areas to verify cleanliness, presentation, furnishings, equipment, and linens meet brand standards and guest expectations.
• Perform quality inspections on team members' work with immediate feedback, address deficiencies, and provide on-the-job coaching or retraining as necessary.
• Respond quickly to guest requests, complaints, and special needs, taking corrective steps to ensure full guest satisfaction.
• Lead by example by performing housekeeping duties during busy operational periods, including cleaning guest rooms and public spaces.
• Encourage teamwork and uphold quality service by communicating effectively daily and collaborating with other hotel departments.

Operational Duties

• Achieve daily productivity goals set by the Housekeeping leadership.
• Maintain a minimum daily inspection rating of 90%.
• Accurately complete and submit all required housekeeping documentation on time.
• Assist with extensive deep cleaning projects and provide operational help during high occupancy times.
• Efficiently manage housekeeping supplies and equipment, minimize waste, and support sustainability initiatives.
• Serve as the primary support contact for housekeeping team members during your shift and escalate operational concerns to supervisors as necessary.

Team Leadership and Development

• Support training and development of housekeeping staff to ensure they have the skills, knowledge, and equipment needed to perform effectively.
• Monitor team performance and quality standards, giving daily guidance and escalating issues to leadership when required.
• Promote a positive, respectful, and safety-conscious team atmosphere.
• Encourage health and wellbeing initiatives within the housekeeping team.

Compliance and Safety

• Adhere to the IHG brand standards, service behaviours, hotel policies, and relevant legislations.
• Exemplify and promote workplace safety practices by identifying hazards, reporting risks, and following health and safety protocols.
• Support hazard control measures to sustain a safe working environment.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years' experience in hotel housekeeping.
• Previous experience as a Housekeeping Self-Checker, Team Leader or similar supervisory role is highly valued.
• Strong understanding of hotel housekeeping operations, cleaning procedures, and quality standards.
• Proven ability to conduct detailed inspections of guest rooms and public areas.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills enabling effective coaching and support of team members.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and adapt within a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
• Positive attitude with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
• Availability to work on a rotating schedule, including weekends and public holidays.
• Physical stamina for housekeeping tasks, such as standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive movements throughout a shift.
• Professional appearance and grooming in line with hotel uniform standards.
