Job description

Position Overview

This role involves conducting research to advance the deciduous tree fruit industry in Washington State. Key focus areas include managing crop loads, protecting against heat stress, evaluating rootstocks, optimizing irrigation methods, ensuring food safety, managing physiological disorders, and testing new agricultural technologies in field settings.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute experimental tests and trials related to various horticultural practices.
  • Collect, document, and analyze data along with gathering fruit samples for research purposes.
  • Perform quality assessments on fruit to monitor and improve standards.
  • Prepare necessary reagents, solutions, and cultures for experiments.
  • Operate an assortment of technical laboratory equipment and instruments essential for research tasks.

Compensation and Terms

The position is full-time, encompassing 40 hours per week, with a compensation rate of $14.00 per hour. The anticipated duration is up to 12 months with an expected start date around September 2023. The work location is Wenatchee, Washington, D.C.

Accommodation and Fees

Shared housing accommodations are typically provided, with monthly rent ranging from $400 to $600, inclusive of utilities. Additionally, there is a fee of £550 required by the sponsoring agency.
