Role Overview
The Homeroom Teacher's role is to deliver inspiring and inclusive teaching that encourages student independence and maximizes academic progress. Building positive relationships across the school community and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning through effective resource use and planning are central to this role.
Main Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging lessons to motivate students towards achieving their highest potential.
- Collaborate with fellow teaching staff to create lesson plans aligned with curriculum requirements.
- Communicate effectively at all levels within the school community.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and support staff.
- Work cooperatively with curriculum support personnel to aid student development.
- Organize classroom settings and learning materials to foster an engaging environment.
- Plan lessons addressing the diverse abilities within the class.
- Incorporate assessment data and reflective practice to improve teaching methods and student outcomes.
- Adapt the curriculum to embed the school's learner and teacher DNA language and attitudes.
- Manage classroom behavior consistent with school policies, promoting self-control and independence.
- Participate in school activities, events, and extracurricular programs, including running a weekly extracurricular club each term.
- Engage in wider professional responsibilities such as curriculum team work, parent communication, and school ethos development.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field accompanied by a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of teaching experience.
- Experience working with students for whom English is an additional language.
- Strong passion for holistic child education and professionalism with a focus on student well-being.
- Active participation in extracurricular activities.
- Respect for diversity across all members of the school community regardless of role, gender, age, or ethnicity.
- Proactive and positive attitude towards teaching responsibilities.
- Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) or police clearance.
- Residency within the Emirate where the school is located is required.
Assessment and Reporting
- Take responsibility for monitoring and advancing class progress.
- Use tools such as Target Tracker for recording student development and assessments.
- Provide timely feedback to parents during conferences and meetings about their children's progress and well-being.
