Role overview
Silverchain Group is seeking a Home Care Worker to support older people living in the Gold Coast North area and nearby suburbs, including Coomera, Australia Fair, and Labrador. This position is suited to someone who enjoys meaningful community care and helping clients stay independent and well at home.
The role does not require a Certificate III, but applicants should bring at least 3 months of experience in a comparable professional care setting.
What the job involves
In this position, you will deliver a mix of domestic support, personal care, and practical assistance to aged care clients. The work may include household tasks, mobility help, transport, and emotional support, as well as assistance for clients with more complex needs such as dementia.
Key duties
- Carry out everyday household help such as making beds and general tidying.
- Clean floors by mopping and vacuuming.
- Wash, fold, and iron laundry.
- Prepare meals and help with grocery shopping.
- Assist clients with getting out of bed, showering, and dressing.
- Support clients in taking prescribed medication.
- Help with mobility and therapy-related goals.
- Provide care for people with higher support needs, including dementia-related care.
- Offer companionship, social support, and emotional reassurance.
- Transport clients to appointments or lifestyle activities.
- Give family carers time away from caring duties.
Working conditions and pay
This is a full-time onsite role with guaranteed hours and shifts. Work is scheduled Monday to Friday between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. There are no weekend shifts and no public holiday work. The pay rate is $32.86 per hour, plus superannuation and paid travel kilometres. Additional support includes an employee benefits program, salary packaging of up to $18,550 tax free each year, and paid CPR and First Aid training. The organisation also offers accelerated learning opportunities to help you gain a Certificate III.
What Silverchain is looking for
Silverchain is looking for someone who brings variety, patience, and a strong service mindset. You should be able to form positive relationships with clients and their families, stay calm when plans change, and work independently while knowing when to involve your manager.
Additional requirements
Applicants must hold a valid Australian driver's licence and have access to their own insured, roadworthy vehicle. Relevant experience should include personal care, manual handling, hoist training, and medication support.
About Silverchain
Silverchain says its teams and leaders work together to deliver Best Care, which is described as safe, personal, connected, and effective. The organisation states that it is one of the few Australian home care providers accredited to both national health and aged care standards. As a not-for-profit provider, it reinvests funds into research and the development of new care models, and it also supports employee growth through training and education programs.
Application and pre-employment checks
To apply, candidates should submit their application through the employer's hiring process. Silverchain encourages applications from Indigenous Australians, people of all ages, all genders, people with disabilities, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Before starting, the preferred candidate must complete a Statutory Declaration, National Police check, Working Rights check, and a pre-employment functional assessment.
