Job Summary

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced Band 2 Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) to join the supportive team at Penhow Ward, Royal Gwent Hospital. The position requires enthusiasm, commitment, and a strong focus on patient-centered care.

Role Details

The HCSW will work under the direction of registered nurses and clinical leads, collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team to assist in patient rehabilitation and discharge planning to achieve optimal outcomes. The role demands genuine interest in nursing care, excellent communication skills, and active participation as a trusted team member on the ward. Shifts include full shift patterns with flexible availability including nights and weekends, potentially on 12-hour or three-shift rotations.

Employment Terms and Future Prospects

This position is currently classified as Band 2 but is undergoing review that may result in reclassification to Band 3 in the future, with appropriate training and support provided. Sponsorship certificates are not available for this post; therefore, candidates requiring visa sponsorship are ineligible to apply.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient-centered care with commitment and passion within the hospital setting.
  • Support patient rehabilitation and discharge processes.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates typically demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and are comfortable with computer use. A willingness to embrace change management and support team colleagues is important. Welsh language skills are desirable but not mandatory; both Welsh and English speakers are encouraged to apply.
