About the Role

Nanyang Technological University's School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), a leading institution established in 1981, is seeking a proactive and strategic Head, Faculty Affairs. This role reports to the Chair of EEE and collaborates with Associate Chairs and other leaders to manage daily operations and support strategic initiatives. The Head will ensure the efficient functioning of business and academic support services, contributing to improvements that enhance EEE's service to its students, faculty, and research community. The position involves overseeing faculty recruitment, appointments, promotions, and onboarding, as well as driving faculty engagement and development, and coordinating space allocation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for recruiting high-caliber faculty, including Nanyang Assistant Professors (NAPs), to the EEE school.
  • Collaborate with school leadership and HR to refine hiring processes and ensure adherence to university policies.
  • Establish comprehensive onboarding programs to facilitate the smooth integration of new faculty members into the EEE community.
  • Manage the faculty lifecycle, including appointments, promotions, and tenure processes, in conjunction with relevant stakeholders.
  • Spearhead initiatives aimed at cultivating a collaborative and inclusive faculty culture within EEE.
  • Oversee the effective allocation and optimization of faculty office spaces and research facilities throughout the EEE school.
  • Act as the primary liaison for faculty affairs-related inquiries from the Chair and other senior management.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of three to five years of professional experience within higher education institutions.
  • Prior experience in faculty affairs, academic administration, or human resources in a higher education setting is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, stakeholder management, and engagement capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous experience in faculty recruitment, engagement, and space planning is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in strategic thinking and leadership.
  • Experience in policy development and implementation.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
