Job description
Position overview
This role supports the Front End Supervisor by helping drive a smooth front-end operation, encouraging strong customer service habits, and keeping associates focused on the company’s expected behaviors. The Head Cashier also coaches and develops Front End and Lot Associates, helps maintain proper coverage through scheduling, and serves as the first point of escalation for customer concerns.
Customer satisfaction

- Review the front end each day from the customer’s perspective and make sure opening readiness, ad setup, and flyer preparation meet standards.
- Monitor associates and workload to confirm staffing levels match business needs.
- Give team members the training, tools, direction, encouragement, coaching, and recognition they need to meet expectations and grow into larger responsibilities.
Front-end leadership
- Pass along goals, priorities, and instructions from store leadership to the team.
- Help keep the parking lot clear, orderly, and free of debris so it remains shoppable.
- Bring in backup cashiers when required and place them at the correct assigned registers.
- Operate cash machines and provide related training to cashiers.
- Support guards during cash collection activities.
Safety and loss prevention
- Follow all safety and loss-prevention rules and procedures.
- Carry out front-end processes designed to reduce shrink and protect company assets, and make sure associates do the same.
Competencies and skills
The role calls for a customer-first approach, good time management, teamwork, strong problem solving, and clear communication. It also requires interpersonal strength, solid cash-handling ability, leadership, and close attention to detail.
