Job description
About Hazel
Hazel is an AI-powered teammate built for consumer brands. It plugs into live business systems such as Shopify, Klaviyo, Amazon, Meta, and many others, then helps teams analyze what is happening and act on it. It can answer questions using live data, surface problems proactively, and even make changes across connected tools as it moves toward running complete workflows on its own.
The company is a small, venture-funded team with a long runway and fast growth. Its customers include Bogg Bag and OneSkin. Hazel is now looking for its first go-to-market hire to join the founding team.
Role overview
This position owns the top of the funnel and is focused on creating qualified pipeline alongside the CEO. Hazel already works with strong brands that like the product; the goal is to expand that reach and convert attention into real sales conversations.
During the first 60 days, you will take ownership of the events and conference calendar, publish content that sparks conversations, and build enough product, ICP, and customer understanding to speak like an operator.
This is a role with a lot of ownership and visibility. You will work directly with customers and with Clint, the CEO. Conversations you initiate today are expected to turn into deals very quickly.
What you'll do
- Own pipeline generation from strategy through execution, including experimentation and consistent growth in qualified conversations.
- Turn events and field marketing activities such as dinners, workshops, and meetups into a repeatable source of pipeline.
- Manage Hazel's conference strategy, including which events to attend, the meetings to set up around them, and the follow-up process after the event.
- Create and distribute content that improves search visibility, including case studies and SEO-driven material, and help Hazel appear in AI-assisted buyer research.
- Support founder-led distribution on LinkedIn and help shape Hazel's voice within the DTC community.
- Track performance carefully so the team knows which activities generate pipeline and which ones do not.
- Work directly with the CEO and customers in a highly hands-on capacity.
Who we're looking for
- Someone with 2 to 6 years of experience in growth, demand generation, field or event marketing, or a generalist go-to-market role, ideally in an early-stage startup.
- A true builder who is comfortable doing the work directly, not just planning it for others.
- Experience personally creating pipeline through content, events, and community, with clear evidence of meetings and deals that resulted.
- An AI-native operator who already uses modern AI tools to multiply output.
- A person who thinks in terms of qualified conversations and pipeline rather than impressions or follower counts.
- Background or experience in e-commerce or DTC.
Not a fit if
- You rely on one fixed playbook and are unwilling to test different channels or tactics.
- You need a team beneath you to execute the work instead of owning day-to-day delivery yourself.
- You lack urgency or a strong sense of ownership.
Compensation and benefits
The base salary is $115,000 to $140,000, with variable pay tied to pipeline performance for a total target compensation of about $150,000 to $175,000. Equity is offered at 0.15% to 0.3%.
- Top-tier health, dental, and vision coverage
- 401(k) retirement plan
- Unlimited paid time off
- Hybrid setup in New York City
Hiring process
- 15-minute screening call
- Conversation with the founder
- Practical exercise involving a 30/60/90-day pipeline plan plus a mock event or campaign
- Onsite meeting with the team
Additional information
This role is based in New York City and is hybrid in practice, with onsite collaboration expected. The company is hiring its first go-to-market team member, so the role requires initiative, speed, and a willingness to test what works. Compensation range is stated as $150,000 to $175,000 total target compensation.
