The company is dedicated to sustainable greenhouse farming, consistent product quality, and strong customer satisfaction. With farms in strategic locations, it supplies fresh vegetables while investing in a skilled workforce and long-term career growth.
Role Overview
As a Greenhouse Grower specializing in organics, you will be accountable for the full crop production cycle, with the goal of maximizing yield and maintaining premium crop quality. The role calls for strong expertise in plant health, cultivation methods, climate control, and labour efficiency. You will also work with leadership to introduce and execute progressive growing practices that support sustainability and high performance.
Key Duties
- Partner with the Director of Growing Operations to plan and carry out growing activities that match production timelines and support a smooth handoff from planting through harvest.
- Track and fine-tune greenhouse conditions such as humidity, temperature, and moisture to support healthy crop development.
- Use plant health products appropriately, inspect crops regularly, and respond quickly to any weak, damaged, or diseased plants to protect overall quality.
- Help create and roll out improved growing methods and processes, especially for new crops introduced into the product range.
- Take primary responsibility for labour quality and efficiency.
- Keep detailed records of growing methods and production results, using the information to improve future practices.
- Coach and support junior growers to build a team culture centered on learning and high standards.
- Follow company rules and procedures related to hygiene, health and safety, and regulatory compliance, and report any food safety or quality concerns without delay.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in a senior grower role within a greenhouse setting, ideally with organic vine crop production.
- Strong ability to calculate and apply plant health products accurately, along with solid knowledge of major plant types, growth patterns, and cultivation needs.
- Hands-on experience with greenhouse equipment and systems such as injectors, EC and pH meters, boom systems, and irrigation.
- Proven ability to manage environmental factors like ventilation, lighting, temperature, and humidity to support plant health and yield.
- Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for crop and greenhouse operational issues.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to train and guide others effectively.
- English fluency is required; Spanish is considered a strong advantage.
- Comfort using MS Office and greenhouse management platforms such as Priva or similar tools.
- Availability for on-call work and overtime, including regular Saturday shifts, as needed by production requirements.
- Ability to work in a greenhouse environment with changing temperatures and high humidity.
- Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stretch, and stand for long periods.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary for this role ranges from CAD 75,000 to CAD 120,000, depending on experience, skills, and internal equity. The package also includes company-paid benefits, RRSP matching, and paid time off.
