Position Summary

The Groundperson plays a crucial supporting role in utility line clearance operations, assisting crew members with tasks related to managing tree maintenance near utility lines. This full-time, onsite position is based in Warwick, Rhode Island, with some travel expected up to 25% of the time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist crew members by managing lowering ropes, limbs, and personnel safely from elevated positions.
  • Provide necessary tools and equipment to tree workers.
  • Manage traffic control on roads and sidewalks using warning devices and other safety measures as needed.
  • Engage in cutting, chipping, loading brush and wood, and ensuring proper cleanup of the job site.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required; commercial driver's license preferred or may be required depending on job specifics.
  • Prior experience as a Groundperson in utility line clearance is mandatory.
  • Relevant certifications such as pesticide license (if required by state law), herbicide license (advantageous), line clearance certification for utility transmission line work, and/or ISA Certified Tree Worker certification or willingness to acquire.
