The position may require long working hours, including some weekends and public holidays. Regular collaboration is expected with internal stakeholders such as Operations Management, internal audit, Commercial, Network, HR, Depot and Transport teams, as well as external parties including contractors and government agencies such as OSHA and NEMC.

Key duties

  • Support the planning, coordination and tracking of local and compliance-related training programmes.
  • Carry out HSSE inspections at the Head Office and at worksites/service stations.
  • Organise and follow up on monthly HSSE and REX committee meetings, including tracking action points.
  • Arrange quarterly emergency drills at headquarters to maintain readiness for incident response.
  • Maintain regular updates of incidents and cases in Ramses.
  • Deliver internal HSSE training, toolbox talks and awareness campaigns that reinforce safe practices.
  • Promote reporting of near misses, golden rules and the use of stop cards.
  • Take part in accident investigations and prepare related reports.
  • Support the rollout of affiliate HSSE objectives and related initiatives.
  • Contribute to HSSE assessments for tender bidders handling high-risk work.
  • Monitor the availability, stock and usage of PPE to ensure proper protection for staff.
  • Develop, review and improve HSSE programmes, policies, plans and procedures.
  • Oversee employee health-related matters such as food quality, drinking water and sanitation cleanliness.
  • Track HSSE management system documents and ensure manuals, policies and procedures remain current and properly published.
  • Maintain the HSSE procedures criticality register.
  • Support waste management improvement efforts, including recycling, data tracking and correct segregation of waste.
  • Help coordinate the GR challenge and work with the HSSE team to encourage broader staff participation.
  • Participate in annual HQ risk assessments, including IH, risk register, IEP, CTA and similar reviews.
  • Support the implementation of SRM+, SOCRAT, UN Sustainable Development Goals and sustainability-related changes across operations and communities.
  • Handle other HSSE-related tasks assigned by the HSE Manager.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should already have at least two years of HSE experience, preferably gained in oil and gas, mining or power plants. A recognised degree is required, along with HSE qualifications. An engineering background will be considered a strong advantage. The role also calls for strong English communication skills, computer literacy in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, independence, and the ability to perform well with minimal supervision and under pressure.
