The position focuses on helping individuals and referrers understand test options, results, and the medical, ethical, and psychological implications of genetic information.
Key responsibilities
- Offer thorough pre-test and post-test genetic counseling for patients and referring clinicians across diagnostic genetic testing, including PGT-related tests, WES, WGS, NIPT, carrier screening, and targeted gene panels.
- Evaluate genetic risk through detailed review of personal and family history, and clearly explain why a test is recommended, what it can and cannot show, and how the results may affect care.
- Work with the laboratory’s medical and scientific experts to review complex genetic findings and communicate results accurately to both clinicians and patients.
- Help support sound clinical choices by discussing the medical, emotional, and ethical considerations linked to genetic results.
- Collaborate with molecular geneticists, lab technologists, and sales/business development colleagues to promote appropriate test selection and deliver strong service quality.
- Draft, update, and safeguard clinical records and counseling reports in line with lab procedures and regulatory expectations.
- Take part in case discussions, variant review meetings, support for external clinicians, and ongoing professional learning activities.
Candidate profile
- Master’s degree or an equivalent diploma in a field related to genetic counseling.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in reproductive genetics, rare disease genetics, or oncology genetics.
- Hands-on exposure to NGS-based testing, carrier screening, PGT, and/or prenatal diagnostics is required.
- A valid DHA or DOH license, or eligibility to obtain one, is necessary.
- Strong command of both Arabic and English is mandatory.
Why this role stands out
- Competitive compensation with additional benefits.
- Room for professional development and career progression within the organization.
- A collaborative and innovation-driven workplace.
- An opportunity to contribute meaningfully in a healthcare company focused on advanced diagnostics.
