Role Overview
In this Sewer Repair General Labourer position, you will support underground rehabilitation and lining work, assist with field operations, and help keep job sites safe, organized, and productive. The role includes a mix of hands-on labour, equipment support, confined space tasks, traffic control setup, and documentation duties across a range of field conditions.
What You Will Do
- Carry out sewer rehabilitation and lining activities in a safe and efficient manner.
- Help with field setup, equipment preparation, confined space work, and general labour tasks at different job sites.
- Support inspection, maintenance, and rehabilitation work on infrastructure systems.
- Work closely with crew members to ensure jobs are completed safely and on schedule.
- Install traffic control measures, signage, and safety gear in line with Book 7 requirements.
- Complete job-related paperwork, assist with basic equipment upkeep, and contribute to clean and orderly work areas.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, with the ability to use tools, equipment, and vehicles safely.
- A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record.
- Safety training such as Confined Space Entry, Working at Heights, and First Aid is an advantage.
- Previous experience in construction, underground utilities, or physically demanding outdoor work is preferred.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and handle demanding physical tasks, including lifting up to 75 lbs., bending, climbing, and working in changing weather.
- Comfort working near heavy equipment, traffic control setups, and active construction or municipal sites.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including long shifts, nights, overtime, and travel assignments outside the area.
- Ability to function well as part of a crew in a fast-paced field environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay starts at $22 to $23 per hour.
- Extended benefits coverage includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
- Overtime is paid after 44 hours worked in a week.
- A $150 boot allowance is provided after one year of service.
- RRSP-DPSP company matching is available.
- Paid training is provided on the job.
- Per diem and paid lodging are included for out-of-town work.
