Position Summary

The Flagger II is responsible for managing traffic flow around construction and road maintenance zones to ensure the safety of both workers and the public. This role involves the setup and dismantling of traffic control devices such as signs, cones, and barricades. The Flagger will utilize hand signals and traffic control equipment to guide motorists safely through work areas. The position demands a high level of attention to detail, the ability to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions, and the capacity to remain standing for extended periods.

Essential Functions

• Deploy and remove traffic control devices, including signs, cones, and barricades, to reroute traffic effectively.
• Utilize stop/slow paddles to manage traffic movement efficiently.
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with team members via two-way radios.
• Perform tasks requiring standing and walking for up to 10 hours daily, with regular reaching.
• Handle the lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving of objects exceeding 50 pounds.
• Operate company vehicles to transport traffic control equipment to and from job sites.
• Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance on vehicles to ensure operational readiness.
• Work in environments exposed to outdoor weather, moving equipment, traffic, fumes, and airborne particles.
• Function effectively in work settings with moderate to loud noise levels.
• Strictly adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Undertake other assigned duties as required.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

• Possession of a valid Driver's License.
• Successful completion of a background check, including a review of driving records.
• Ability to pass a drug screening and meet federal DOT requirements.
• Mandatory use of appropriate safety gear, including steel-toed work boots, a hard hat, safety glasses, and a safety vest.
• Proficiency in operating a 2-way radio.
• Adaptability to work in various weather conditions and traffic environments.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with contractors and internal teams, providing excellent customer service.
• Capacity to collaborate effectively within a team setting.
• Exceptional attendance record, reliable personal transportation, and a strong work ethic are essential.
• Completion of the ATSSA Flagger training course and company-provided Defensive Driver training is required.
• Willingness to travel throughout the state, including potential overnight stays, and availability for night and weekend work as project demands dictate.
• Participation in a rotating on-call schedule is necessary.
